Marcus Lau is a dedicated educator with a deep-rooted passion for creating an inclusive and engaging learning environment. He holds bachelor's degrees in both English Language and Literature and English Language Teaching, and is currently advancing his expertise through a Master's degree in Education at the University of British Columbia (UBC).
Marcus' devotion lies especially in supporting students with additional needs, striving to create a strength-based learning atmosphere that caters to all students. As a seminar instructor at UBC, he equips future educators with the necessary knowledge and skills in key areas such as assessment of learning and handling diverse abilities within a mainstream classroom setting.
Prior to his move to British Columbia, Marcus accumulated three years of invaluable teaching experience in Hong Kong. Serving as a co-leader of a student support team, he was instrumental in facilitating the success of students with unique learning requirements.
Aside from his academic pursuits, Marcus is an avid globetrotter. He has travelled extensively, participating in Model United Nations conferences in cities like Geneva and Singapore, and organizing English language camps in Budapest, Hungary. His global engagements have enriched his appreciation for diversity, enhancing his belief in its pivotal role in shaping a progressive society.
In his leisure time, Marcus finds joy in Muay Thai, hiking, reading, and singing. True to his profession, he remains a lifelong learner, continuously seeking new knowledge and experiences. Through his enthusiasm for education and unwavering commitment to his students, Marcus Lau is making significant strides in the realm of inclusive education.
